Voyage Planners is pleased to announce the schedule of much-awaited three days Ecotourism Boat Safari to Taunsa Barrage on Indus River under its flagship project Conservation of Indus Dolphin through Community Based Ecotourism.
Following are the key features of this Indus River Ecotourism Boat Safari:-
- Sail on the traditional fishermen’s boats operated by Mohan’s who are indigenous people of Indus Valley.
- Have the opportunity to watch unique species of Indus Blind Dolphins, which only occur in River Indus.
- Enjoy bird watching along one of the world’s most famous birds’ migration routes commonly known as “Indus Fly Way”.
- Meet indigenous communities living along Indus and experience their traditional rural way of life.
- Enjoy traditional local home-cooked food.
- Have an experience of camping, bonfire and local music on the bank of River Indus.
- Play Beach Volleyball on the sandy beach of Indus.
- Learn about the world’s largest irrigation network of River Indus and its tributaries.
- Opportunity to take lots of good pictures of wildlife, people, and places.
The cost includes transportation as per itinerary, two-night camping accommodation including sleeping bags and mattresses, all meals as per itinerary, binoculars for bird watching, dolphin watching boat safari with life jackets, first aid kit, services of the tour guide.
Day 1,
Departure from Lahore at 0700 a.m. for Taunsa Barrage. Travel via Sahiwal and Multan. Short stay for lunch on the way. Arrival at Taunsa Barrage and transfer to camping site. Tea and refreshments. Fee time to enjoy the game of Beach Volleyball. Enjoy the beautiful sunset on River Indus. Briefing on Indus River and Indus Blind Dolphin. Dinner and night stay at camping site.
Day 2,
Early morning go for bird-watching with local nature guide. On the way also meet Mohanas who are the indigenous people of Indus and live on their house boats. Return to camp and breakfast at camping site. Visit Taunsa Barrage and learn about the world largest irrigation network of River Indus and its tributaries. Visit Taunsa Wildlife Information Center and briefing on the wildlife of Taunsa Barrage Wildlife Sanctuary. Visit local village to see local women making weed baskets and Ralli and other traditional products. Lunch at Camping site. After lunch go for a boat safari to watch Indus Blind Dolphins. Return to camp. Free time for rest and enjoying the beautiful sunset or to play Volleyball on sandy beach of Indus. Dinner with bone fire and local live music.
Day 3,
Breakfast at camping site. Departure for Lahore via Multan. At Multan visit the magnificent Tomb of Rukn-e-Alam, which dominates the city from the top of the fort mound. It has been awarded the Aga Khan Architectural Award for restoration. It is also considered the oldest octagonal tomb in the subcontinent. We will also visit the elegant tombs of Bah-ud-din Zakaria, the grandfather of Shah Rukn-e-Alam and Shah Shams Tabraiz. After visiting the shrines of great Sufi saints we will go and visit the old colorful Bazars of Multan. Lunch at Multan. Departure for Lahore with short stay for refreshments at Sahiwal. Arrival at Lahore and end of the tour.
